Nothing new has happened for quite some time...just regular life things....until the last 2 months. Since Luke's time at Smith Honda he has had invaluable and very expensive (at no expense to us personally) sales training that has not only boosted his confidence with sales (especially commissions based sales) but made him do a lot of thinking. Thinking that there are so many people doing "well enough" but are not nearly as qualified as Luke is (not trying to be arrogant but it is the truth!). This then lead to him taking more free online college classes (no degree, just the knowledge), which then lead him to do some research, which lead to more research. All this to say that Luke and I have done a lot of praying and asking God for wisdom and we are going after our ultimate dream job.
Luke has always dreamt of being able to run his own business and at the same time be remote or be able to work from virtually anywhere. If you would have told Luke that he would be pursuing a sales job just 1 year ago he would have laughed in your face! In fact, he never even applied for the Smith Honda job, he actually only applied to sell RV's (you know, since we live in one he thought it would be easy selling them!) but they transferred his resume over to Honda/Chevy. Luke would NEVER have thought sales would EVER be anything meant for him. The last 10 months however, Luke's confidence and understanding and yes, even enjoyment and excitement for sales has absolutely shot through the roof!
As of June 11th (today at the time of writing this) Luke will be moving on from Smith Honda and taking a leap of faith into his own business. GET Business Solutions LLC. will be the ultimate goal but in the mean time he will be able to work part time for The Bank Card Group which (having never worked for them and only going off of what we are told and have found via reviews and BBB and other various references.) will pay the bills and has potential to do a lot more but will be flexible enough as he gets GET Business Solutions LLC. up and running. It will also give him the direct "Business to Business" sales experience. The hope and goal is that Luke will eventually be able to hire on 2 other business partners. He already has these men "picked out" and it has been an absolute answer to prayer as they are both Christian and "equally yoked" which is something that Luke and I agree is very essential in business partners!
GET Business Solutions will be primarily Olfactory Marketing aka Scent Marketing. Did you know that marketing uses all the other senses but usually ignores the smelling aspect in regards to boosting sales? There are many well known names that do use olfactory marketing and do so very effectively! Did you know that the significance of smell in any business is the most important and crucial and most remembered as well as the most influential in decision making?!? Heres just one example of hundreds: Nike uses a scent in their store. Research done showed that a store without a scent sold considerably less than the store scented. Not only that, but the scented store had higher prices and people stayed longer because their perception of time was slowed down....more sales and higher sales prices!
THIS is what we have been working towards! The long days and longer nights of Luke staying up looking into tax laws and business laws and reading up on marketing and consulting and start up businesses and like mentioned earlier taking online classes and olfactory research and filling out all the paperwork that comes with starting a business and the phone calls and appointments with various people getting everything situated and ready to go.....its all worth it! Its all for our future. Its all for our family. But most importantly its all God's hands at work in our lives directing us where we are to go. Sunday's sermon last week was about Abraham. God told him to GO...he didn't say where. We up and moved last year and it was God's direction that lead us to Idaho. We didn't have a plan. No place to live, no job, no idea of what was going to happen next EXCEPT that God would provide! And He has and continues to do so. There is no doubt that only good will come from this next chapter. I pray and hope you will join us in this prayer that this will work and that God blesses Luke's efforts and continues to give wisdom and the faith in this new chapter of our always changing lives!
