Random Thoughts Part 1

Labeled "part 1" due to the fact that there will be more "random..." posts. I usually have very scattered thoughts and I take a while to organize them into meaningful communication. Sometimes, however, it is fun to just say what I am thinking about.
Random Facts.....about the trailer:
*I really enjoy full time "RVing" for the most part. There are some challenges but it's mostly a fun adventure with some excitement and kids mixed in. When we took the idea seriously I never intended to pull anything this size. Anything past 20' was very intimidating and looked like it would be ridiculous to park. Then, out of practicality, we settled on a 31' with two slides. It's a beast but it pulls so nicely.
*It takes about a week to go through a 30# tank of propane which is roughly 7 gallons. About $22 worth. Also, TSC in Lorain has propane that burns much cleaner than U-Haul's propane...in our experience so far. The propane furnace works really well and so does the A/C unit.
*It takes about a week to fill the poop tank.
*We got rid of the stock subwoofer that sounded terrible and took up a fair amount of cabinet space. *Bethany just found more storage under the dinette seats behind the drawers.
*We will be building a couple shelves to maximize space.
*Bethany has found Velcro to be quite awesome! It's always fun on "moving day". There are so many things that we use every day that suddenly need stowed. Things need to be moved so the slides can come in, anything loose on the table our counter tops needs a place etc. We are getting pretty quick at set up and tear down. We can be ready to drive off in about 40 minutes! Set up is about the same unless I have trouble backing up and the site is very un-level. Today we drove off in about 30mins and it only took 15mins to park, level and un-hitch!
*We have been staying in Findley State Park mostly. It's a great park! We have been meeting some interesting and friendly people including a man with a pure bread Timberwolf as a pet.
*Campgrounds are expensive! Findley has been the best deal in the area so far and is maintained much better than the few privately owned campgrounds we have seen.

Random facts.....about our Nissan:
*The NV 3500 is also amazing! I met a guy who bought an H3 and I felt even better about our purchase just hearing him talk. He paid the same we did and gets the same mileage, pulling and not pulling. He has six less seats and two less cylinders and pulls half the trailer we do! If you are in the market for a full size van, the Nissan NV cannot be beat. Ours has really been a great vehicle. Talking to other RV'ers  it sounds like the price for what you get is outstanding as well.
*As a work vehicle I can put 10' lengths of conduit right in and forklift spools of wire right into the back or side.
*As a family van there are enough seating combinations to fit any situation.
*The 120V power outlets, standard from the factory on the SV, have been super helpful as well!

(hmmmm....maybe I should become a Nissan NV salesman! lol)

Random thoughts.....about random life things:
*Tiny homes.... my opinion: we have a tiny home! It moves. It has everything but laundry. Actually, we made a washing machine but it's not very efficient and the clothes need to hang dry for a long time! Anyway, it's cheaper than a "tiny home" and in some (maybe even most) respects more efficient. It's also made to go places which is a large portion of the fun. Making storage efficient has been interesting and having a family of five living in about 300 sf is challenging. It has not, however, prevented Havilah from learning to crawl or trying to walk. She has been climbing on everything! Ephraim is learning how to be helpful when setting up and tearing down. He also helped me empty our holding tanks today.

So, there you go....all my random thoughts. Stay tuned for more!
