On The Road Again....

On The Road Again....

Luke and I had a brief moment of doubt for our crazy winter trailer camping trip. Man was it COLD last night- 1° just isn't camping weather! We were setting up and getting the kids into their beds and hoping and praying that the trailer would warm up quickly. Luckily we brought along an electric space heater just to get things warmer a lot faster. We were worried that our heated mattress (yes, our trailer has heated mattresses!) weren't working, but once you were underneath the covers, you were toasty warm in under a minute! All I remember was how comfortable I was; next thing I knew it was morning! We all slept like rocks!
We decided at 8am it was time to get back on the road again. We had a fast breakfast of bananas and breakfast bars and packed up a few PB&J sandwiches for lunch. While I was busy with lunches, Luke was getting clothes out for the kids and a few things packed away, Jireh was eating her breakfast and Ephraim was being the sweet big brother he is. Havilah was starting to whine on our bed and Ephraim was very concerned for her. He rushed over to her and started to play with her and helped her find her binky and then asked Luke very politely to please let him go out to the van to get Havi's bottle. He was very adamant that she needed milk and that it was up to him to help her! One of the sweetest older brother memories I hope to remember forever.

Everything and everyone once again got loaded up and off we went Westward.

We drive for about 200-250 miles before stopping for gas and whatever else. Makes for frequent stops, but I will say that it also makes for a happy and fun trip. We are able to all get out and stretch our legs and get some fresh air. We stopped at the world's smallest Wal-Mart (OK, it wasn't really -to my knowledge- but my goodness was it small!) with the hopes of picking up a propane gage and possibly another space heater and a few more snacks for the road. To our dismay there were no propane gages, space heaters, and barely any food, although we did find the produce Isle which was all on one shelf just above the soda pop. Wish we had taken a picture. At least we got 3lbs of bananas for under a dollar! Score!

Ephraim loved how small it was, he could play his favorite game of "run and stop". He runs ahead of us and then stops as soon as he gets too far. He has to stay within our sight and is not allowed to touch anything from the shelves. He enjoys the freedom to run indoors! LOL He was absolutely adorable though, as he was watching out for people and not running into anyone or getting in the way. If he came close to running into anyone he says, "excuse me" or "i'm sorry". Everyone always has something positive to say about how respectful or polite or full of energy he is! Gotta love our son!

Back on the Road again....

The kids are pretty excited to be going somewhere new. They seem to be just as adventurous as Luke and I. Luke is really getting the rhythm of "setting up camp" and "breaking down" and enjoying it...he just can't wait for the warmer weather to do it in!!! All day consisted of stopping for gas and diaper changes. This is the longest it's taken us to go such a short distance BUT Luke likes to say that we made good "time" because we made good memories! This is the most stress-free trip I think we have ever taken.
Long trips seem to bring big life changes for us. For Luke it started with his first move to Worthington, Minnesota. For me it started back when I moved to Three Hills, Alberta, Canada/Plains, MT for College. We are always willing for another adventure but don't try to force anything that God isn't orchestrating.

Jeremiah 29:11  "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
